Jose Carreras will perform , for the first time, in Cluj Napoca.

     Therefore, two years after his latest visit to Romania, the tenor accepted the invitation to sing once again to the Romanian audience on November 26, at Romexpo, and on November 29, at the Polyvalent Hall in Cluj Napoca.

     José Carreras will offer Romanians a concert that will include the famous tunes of the “Belle Epoque” time, as well as his famous arias of opera, operetta and musicals.

    The concert is named “The Very Best Of José Carreras” and will charm Jose’s fans with “La Donna e Mobile”, “Nessun Dorma” and many, many more! José Carreras has a privileged position in the world of music.

    Born in Barcelona, he has studied music in his home town.

  In 1970, he started his music career at Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, performing in the works “Nabucco” and “Lucrezia Borgia”.

    The singer’s career embraces over 60 great roles played on the greatest stages of the world, and some of the most outstanding operas of his repertoire are “Andrea Chenier”, “La Boheme”, “Tosca”, “Werther”, “Don Carlos”, “Carmen”, “The Force of Destiny”, “The Elixir of Love” and “Masked Ball” as well as recordings with great artists that have performed outside of the classical music genre, such as Diana Ross, Klaus Meine, Charles Aznavour, Sarah Brightman.

     Besides his opera performances, Carreras has had recitals in the world’s greatest concert halls. His entire repertoire includes over 600 performed titles, covering a wide range of music styles, from baroque to contemporary.

     Jose Carreras has been a part of the project “The Three Tenors”, along with Placido Domingo and Luciano Pavarotti, with whom he had started a series of highly popular concerts that have continued until 2003.

     The first charity concert by the three virtuosos was held in Rome, during the Football World Cup.

     Due to their massive success, the concerts held in this formula continued for as long as 14 years!

     Their album “Carreras – Domingo – Pavarotti: The Three Tenors in Concert” owns the Guinness record for best sold classical album.

     Acknowledged by classical genre critics as the best tenor voice of our days, Jose Carreras has proved the entire world that he is not only a great artist, but also a philanthropist.

     After winning the battle against leukemia in 1988 and founding the “Jose Carreras International Leukemia Foundation”, Jose Carreras managed to actively contribute to fund collecting actions needed by people diagnosed with leukemia and donate the foundation impressive sums of the artist fees earned for his concert, as well as of his CD sales.
